“Xylergia” was born in Peristerona in 1979, but its story stretches back through the years. It carries depth and roots—fundamental elements of quality. Drawing from the passion and necessity born of displacement, from the land and the landscape of the Morphou valley. Endless plains, the sea, and in the distance… mountain ridges. But also, from the technical skills and aesthetics of the early masters of woodcraft, an art passed down from generation to generation.

From occupied Filia to Peristerona. A difficult journey, transformed over time into an art form to soothe the pain of loss. With a refined aesthetic and a distinct style. One that cannot but respect the raw material, because it is the same raw material—inseparably tied to the form and unique characteristics of each type of wood.

Art and woodworking techniques not as undefined styles, but as an organic continuation of local carpentry traditions. We create history because we are our history. And we know this well.

Five decades of hard work, uncompromising in quality. We never made peace with commercial mediocrity. Always with integrity in our conscience. ‘Mastre Yiannis’ built a family, raised children, and now… he is raising grandchildren. He continued and still continues to adorn homes with his craftsmanship. And whatever he built with care and passion, came back to him.

He rooted refugee homes, but also homes of young couples who poured their dreams into the designs and lines of his craftmanship. And now, their children follow in their footsteps, building dreams of their own. Just like the children of “Mastre Yiannis,” who studied, traveled, and have now returned to their roots. Continuing and modernizing the tradition. Offering innovation and upgrading the craft.

Mastre Yiannis survived displacement, built a family, and weathered the financial crisis. The foundations were solidified, the trees grew, and they bore fruit.
